Language Learning Experiences
These experience-based activities - 60 in all - teach basic skills as
well as simple descriptive language. Activities appropriate for small or
large group participation are presented in conjunction with reproducible
activity reviews - each review consisting of a vocabulary page plus 3 to
6 sequenced illustrations depicting the principal events of the activity.
Six activity areas are represented:
- Food
- Drink
- Self-help
- Home and work
- Leisure
- Holidays
Speech-language pathologists, special educators and classroom teachers have found the activities and sequenced reviews to be highly effective in a wide range of programs, including developmentally delayed, mentally handicapped, hearing impaired, learning disabled, environmentally deprived, preschool, reading and ESL. A quick and easy way to teach and review everyday experiences that students can then share with family and friends.
