Don't Take It So Literally!

Whimsical illustrations and humorous definitions spark students' interest in learning this set of 60 idioms.

Each idiom is presented at three activity levels:

  • Level 1 introduces the idioms, stimulates discussion and expands understanding of abstract meanings.
  • Level 2 reinforces the association between abstract and concrete meanings.
  • Level 3 permits clinicians/teachers to assess the degree of learning that has occurred.

These materials for teaching higher-level language skills are appropriate for language impaired, learning disabled, mildly mentally handicapped, hearing impaired and regular education students as well as individuals learning English as a second language.

Age: 8 - Adult
